This week, from 12 to 16 October, the Generalate is hosting the 14th edition of the RELEM directors’ training programme, organised and facilitated jointly by the RELEM Team and ASSEDIL.
Some 48 heads of schools and institutions from the various districts that make up the current Lasallian region of RELEM are taking part in the various training sessions included in the programme.
The event began today, Monday, with prayer in the Chapel of the Trinity, followed by words of welcome from Brothers Joël Palud, General Councillor, and Santiago Rodríguez, Director of the Generalate.
This was followed by a fun icebreaker activity to help the heads of schools get to know one another through a game of “Bingo” and a presentation on the backgrounds of each of the heads.
To round off the morning session, there were several presentations on what ASSEDIL is – given by Marta Martínez, President of ASSEDIL – and on the current situation in the Region: districts, numbers of pupils and teachers, communities of Brothers, challenges, strengths, etc., presented by Mourad Barsoum from the RELEM Team and Tomeu Martorell from the Arlep district.
After lunch, the executives were given a tour of the Generalate’s premises, visiting the museums, the shrine housing the remains of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, and various relics of the Holy Brothers. We would like to thank the Brothers who acted as guides in the Institute’s three languages: French, English and Spanish.
Subsequently, Brother Joël Palud – General Councillor – gave an update on the current reflection process aimed at unifying the Region’s existing districts so that, by 2028, they will form a single district and three educational networks.
Following Brother Joël’s talk, the leaders organised the ‘Districts Fair’, where they gave a presentation on the educational and socio-educational situations in each of their home districts and delegations. In addition, the dinner was an informal affair, with everyone sharing traditional foods they had brought from their own countries.
