After a restorative rest following our shared dinner, featuring all the delicacies from the different districts, we moved on to the second day. We began with a prayer led by the leaders from Southern Belgium.

Afterwards, two colleagues from Arlep, Óscar and Miriam, explained during the two morning sessions the educational experience being implemented in that district through the New Learning Context (NCA). As well as outlining the pedagogical principles underpinning it, they led various activities that pupils undertake within the NCA framework in workshops, projects and so on.

We are grateful for the efforts made by our colleagues to bring this rich reality to the Lasallian world of RELEM.

Brother Enrico Muller, from the RELEM team, has presented a case study entitled ‘How solidarity projects in a Lasallian centre give meaning to the educational mission’, focusing in particular on the situation in the Scampia neighbourhood of Naples, where the Lasallian mission has been caring for and supporting those most in need for 19 years, in an environment that is particularly challenging due to the presence of organised crime, marginalisation, etc. The work of the volunteers who, throughout the year, undertake short or long-term placements – depending on their circumstances – provides young people with an opportunity to reflect on their vocation and to see another side of the world and of 21st-century society.

Following the presentation by the “La Salle Foundation” team, Ms Eleonora Munaretto and Mr Daniel Muñoz shared their reflections on “Lasallian Stories of Solidarity” – a journey through all the regions of the Institute where Lasallian solidarity is evident.

A fruitful dialogue with the participants characterised this afternoon’s session.
